About Me!
Hi, I'm Camryn Callison Caruso (yes, a triple C AND a triple threat, lol) and I'm so glad you are here! I am originally from Lemont, Illinois which is a small suburb 30 minutes from Chicago. I went to Lemont High School where my love for the arts truly blossomed so much so that I decided to make performance my future career.
I am currently attending Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa as a sophomore, working toward my B.F.A. in Musical Theatre! I LOVE the color purple and royal blue, I have two basset hounds, a coffee addiction, vanilla scents, and many celeb crushes. I also love teaching children about the arts and everything about marketing, social media, and publicity.

I have truly, always been a diva since a young age. I first started performing at age 7 in dance recitals, moving on to competitive dance in multiple styles as I got older. I didn't start acting/singing in productions until age 12, when I played Galinda the Good Witch in a community production of Wizard of Oz (even though my first true musical was a possibly illegal production of Despicable Me the Musical?)
After that, I began taking voice lessons with my local music director at church and singing in masses, growing my classical vocal training. In high school, I was involved in the fall/winter plays and spring musicals along with serving as drama club marketing and president!
As I mentioned, I am currently in college studying musical theatre. I love my classes and am so grateful to be able to go to school to study what I love. My professors at Drake have taught me so many new things about performance and theatre. I am only a sophomore and have already made so much progress vocally, acting, and dance wise. I can't wait to learn even more in the coming years.
This past summer, I received my first professional contract with Prairie Repertory Theatre playing Queen Constantina in Cinderella and working as a marketing/social media intern. This was one of the best experiences of my life and I have made lifelong friends and connections.
This past fall, I attended the Central Region National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) Voice Competition where I won first place in my musical theatre category and was a semifinalist in my classical category. This was a great learning experience and further sparked my love for classical/opera studies.

I truly found my love for performance and theatre at some of the lowest points of my adolescence. I was diagnosed with a general anxiety disorder and mild depression at age 15, after struggling with symptoms for much of my younger life. I was becoming someone I no longer recognized, but being able to immerse myself in shows/roles and communities within the arts truly changed the trajectory of my life.
Performing, teaching, and doing what I love have helped me find new coping skills and ways to channel my anxieties into positive nerves for my career. Thanks for checking my site out :)
